What is a QR code?
A QR code is a symbol
that contains protected information and can be scanned by cell phone cameras. It's a common payment method within mobile apps internationally.
How do QR Codes by ATH Móvil work?
QR Codes by ATH Móvil will identify every POS terminal of your business and it can only be scanned by the camera on the ATH Móvil app. That way, your customers can pay in a safe and easy way.
Can all ATH Móvil users pay using Scan & Pay QR codes?
Yes. The 1.3 million ATH Móvil users can start updating their ATH Móvil mobile apps and use the QR code scanning feature to pay at participating locations.
How can a customer pay my business by scanning the QR code?
Each point of sale (POS) terminal in your store will have a unique and static QR code through which you can receive payments. Your client must open the ATH Móvil app and scan the QR code.
To receive a payment, you must do the following:
- On your POS terminal press "RED ATH".
- Select "ATH MÓVIL".
- Select "Sale".
- Enter the amount to pay and continue. (If requested, include taxes.)
- Wait for the customer to confirm their payment on the ATH Móvil app.
- That's it! Your merchant receipt will print instantly.
- Your customer will receive an email copy of the receipt and can see the transaction in the app's Activity log.
Is there a maximum amount for payments through ATH Móvil Scan & Pay?
At the moment, customers can pay up to a maximum of $1,500 dollars on Scan & Pay transactions.
There is no limit on the maximum amount that you can receive as a business through ATH Móvil Scan & Pay transactions.
Can the customer add tips to their purchase?
Yes. If your commerce's POS terminal is set up to accept tips, the customer will be shown the option to enter a set or a custom amount to tip the business on the app when confirming the payment.
Will the purchase receipt be printed on my POS terminal?
Your merchant receipt will print automatically, per usual. The customer's receipt will not be printed. The customer can see their transaction on their app Activity log and on their confirmation email that they will receive once the purchase is made.
How can I print my customer's purchase receipt?
The customer will have their receipt available on their ATH Móvil app and on their confirmation email that they will receive once the purchase is made. You can print the customer's purchase receipt by pressing "Reprint" on your POS terminal, as you would for any other transaction.
To print customer's receipt:
- Press “Reprint” on your POS terminal.
- Press "Last Transaction"
- That's it! Your POS terminal will print the purchase receipt
Can I use the same QR code for all my point of sale (POS) terminals in my business?
No. Each point of sale (POS) terminal has a unique QR code that will work only for that point of sale (POS) terminal.
What do I do if the QR code on my ATH Móvil app is damaged?
You can request an official ATH Móvil QR code for each of your point of sale (POS) terminals by filling out the request on the ATH Móvil website.
You can also print it on the ATH Móvil website. Remember that your client can always complete the payment with ATH Móvil by entering the alphanumeric code that appears below the QR code.
How can I request an additional QR code?

What if my customer can't scan the QR code?
The customer can manually enter the alphanumeric code that appears below the QR code on the scanning screen when they begin the payment process on the ATH Móvil app. They must press the "Enter Manually" button and enter the code.
What happens if my customer paid an incorrect amount?
You enter the amount to be paid by your customer on your POS terminal at the beginning of the transaction. The customer cannot change that amount. You can always refund your customer from your POS terminal.
Can I refund a payment?
Yes. You can refund any payment you've received through this feature. You can make a partial refund or a full refund.
The refund will be deposited back into the card used for the transaction if it is still active in the ATH Móvil account. If it cannot be deposited back into the original card, the refund will be deposited into another card on the same ATH Móvil account. If the customer does not have any other cards or doesn't have an active ATH Móvil account, you must refund them in another way.
How many refunds can I process?
You can process as many refunds as necessary, as long as the refund amount does not exceed the original transaction amount. You can generate a full refund for the original amount or you can generate refunds until you total the original amount.
How to generate a customer refund?
To generate a refund, do the following:
- Go into your POS terminal and select "RED ATH"
- Select "ATH MÓVIL"
- Select "Refund"
- Enter the "ATHM Trans ID" of the original payment. (This must be provided by the customer)
- Enter the refund amount and continue
- That's it! Your POS terminal will print the receipt when the transaction is complete
- Your customer will receive an email copy of the receipt and they can see the transaction in the app's Activity log.
Where can my customer find the ATHM Trans ID to start the refund process?
Your customer must provide the ATHM Trans ID. They will be able to find it on the original transaction details in the app's Activity log or in their email confirmation they received after the original transaction.
Where can I see all the ATH Móvil QR code payments received?
All the QR code payments will be available on your bank statements and reports as well as all other debit ATH® card payments, but they will be identified as ATH Móvil payments.
How much does it cost to receive payments through ATH Móvil Scan & Pay?
There is no additional charge for accepting ATH Móvil Scan & Pay transactions. The transaction fee will be the same as stated by your bank for all debit ATH® cards.
Do my customers face any additional charges when paying with ATH Móvil Scan & Pay?
No. Your customer will be able to make payments for free using ATH Móvil's newest feature.
How do I make a claim for a payment received by ATH Móvil?
All claims must be dealt with in the same way that you would claim a payment received using a debit ATH® card.
